November's "Stamp Artist Of The Month" is
Stamp Artist Kathryn Hughett

Show - Front Cover of tin

Shown - Inside of front cover on left, inside on right

 "Genesis"
Stamp Artist Kathryn Hughett
I started with an AOL CD and tin.   I Torched it and used a steel brush to remove the paint and distress it somewhat.

I then painted the entire tin and the shiny side of the CD with Pebeo Porcelain paint in a purple color.   I then Stamped the image of God, (Genesis - available from Stamp Camp), into gold Premo clay with ink made for fabric stamping so that it would be set with the heat while the clay and the painted tin baked.  I didn't bake the paint on the CD for obvious reasons, but it is still water resistant though not water proof.  I put gold acrylic wall glazing paint on the CD and cover of the tin and spun the paint out on a Swirl-Art machine sold in toy stores.  On the inside of the lid I realized that the metal was not shiny enough so I glued down a piece of foil paper and painted it with the Porcelain paint.  I copied and enlarged the first page of Genesis from the Bible and cut out the passages telling of the creation of the sun, moon and stars as well as the GENESIS title.  I colored the paper with a thinned down wash of Caramel l ink from Adirondack to give the color of ancient paper.  I then glued the paper inside of the lid over the painted foil paper.  I glued the CD into the bottom part of the tin using 527BOND glue. I glued the stamped clay image on top of the CD using the same kind of glue.  I then glued the sequin moon and stars in the appropriate places.  I painted my signature on the outside back with the same gold glazing paint.

Punch out several snowmen, trees, and ornaments. Select background stamps, ink with your choice of Brilliance inks (I'm partial to pearlescents), and stamp the punch outs. On the ornaments, I stamped more than one image (I used the snowflakes from "Santa Says"). Allow to dry, and if desired, stamp the reverse side. Punch any holes that are needed (I used an eyelet punch tool because I find it easier to punch small holes in shrink plastic with it).
Stamp several flowers in red and loosely cut out. Stamp the dove. Allow to dry. Since the dove is symmetrical, stamp the other side as well. Punch a hole.
Shrink all pieces.

Prepare the wreath by wrapping various ribbons and securing. Create a tassel. Attach jingle bells. Decorate as shown. Either tie on the shrink decorations or glue them in. Add artificial berries and ornaments as fillers. Add gold glitter to flower centers, use white glitter as "snow" or accents.

8. Fold the flower in half and then unfold it, three times - between each set of petals.

9. Now fold flower in half, bending in some of the petals (even folding them in half) to form a fan.

10. Set four black (1/8") eyelets at the corners of the double-matted image-putting the fan in one corner with an eyelet through the bottom.

11. Using light brown embroidery floss, and a large needle, thread floss around the image, making a knot above and below the portrait. Be sure to keep floss on top of cardstock by lacing it around each eyelet (under the cardstock) as an anchor .

12. Secure the back of each eyelet wrapped with floss with a piece of tape.

13. (Optional) Cut a piece of text weight beige cardstock as a lining for the card. Secure with floss sewn in like book binding.
