March's "Stamp Artist Of The Month" is
Stamp Artist Mary Garvey

"Cool Cats Birthday"
Stamp Artist - Mary Garvey

Supplies:

  • All rubber stamps from Claudia Rose
  • Inks: Document Ink -Black, Kaleidacolor - Calypso, Walnut Ink (Crystals)
  • Cardstock: white, tan, orange
  • Markers: Fabrico Yellow
  • Junk CD, Flat Marble
  • White Gesso
  • Krylon: gold pen, Workable Fixatif spray
  • Pearl Ex gold pigment powder
  • Heat gun
  • Adhesives: Amys Embossable Tape, Diamond Glaze, foam tape

 Directions
   CD

  • Prepare the CD with white gesso, following the directions on the bottle.
  • Stamp several Whispers images randomly on the CD, using Calypso stamp pad. Heat set.
  • Heat the CD again in sections, and cut into 6 pieces.
  • Stamp cat band images with Document Black as shown. Heat set.
  • With the Fabrico marker, color in the background. Heat set.
  • Spray each CD piece with Workable Fixatif, several times, in light coats.
  • Edge each piece with gold pen.
   Background:

  • Mix Walnut Ink Crystals with warm water and randomly paint the tan cardstock.
  • While still wet, sprinkle crystals directly onto the cardstock. Add a little water, if needed, to disperse the intensity.
  • Add small amounts of Pearl Ex powder randomly. Add more walnut ink as desired. You want dark areas and lighter areas, and some areas with a little sparkle from the pigment powder. Set aside to dry. Use books to weigh it down so it flattens, or iron it flat.
  • Cut cardstock to size and edge with gold pen.
  • For "Happy Birthday" and the singing cat:
  • On scrap pieces of white cardstock, stamp several Whispers images randomly with Calypso.
  • Stamp words and singing cat with Document Black. Heat set or wait for ink to dry.
  • With Fabrico marker, color background around cat.
  • Adhere flat marble with Diamond Glaze to the singing cat. When dry, cut out.
  • Cut out words and edge with gold pen.

Assemble as shown. Amy's Embossable Tape was used to adhere the CD pieces and flat marble because of it's strength. Foam strips were used to attach the saying.

MW716-U "Frame #1, Lg." was stamped onto confetti tan card stock. The same image was stamped with Staz-on ink on a transparency and the insides of each square were cut to create a mask. This was used to stamp AMW871-K
"Kokopelli #8" in Old Olive, 857-R "Navajo design" in Rust, MW721-B "Small Sunburst" in Mustard, MB852-G "Beaded feather, Sm." in Ruby Red, MB842-J "Dreamcatcher, Sm." in Navy and MB242-I, Wild Arabian horse, Sm." in Chocolate brown. "Mirage"
Stamp Artist - Astrid Pryor

Using the whole ink pad, draw Marvy Yellow across the middle of the paper. TAP the Pale Orange on top of it. If desired blend with sponge. Work quickly; inks dry VERY quickly. Rubbing alcohol may help blend. Draw the Pink Marvy pad across the top for the sky; tap to fill in color as necessary. Use Bubble Gum Pink to create streaks. Using the same techniques, apply Raisin on the bottom of the card. To apply Brilliance ink, use tapping method. Dragging the Brilliance pad can cause it to "grab" the Brilliance ink and smear the work.

Colors fade as they dry.
