I was inspired to create this card upon after reading various
legends about the Mythical Griffin. I felt this would
make an unusual Easter card and I would include the following
information about the griffin inside the card:
The Glorious Griffin
In ancient times the dual nature of the griffin led it to be
associated with Christ as king of heaven and earth; the eagle
half of the griffin signified Christ's divinity and the lion
half represented His humanity.
The griffin also symbolized the strength and wisdom of God
with the lion portion representing strength and the eagle portion
representing wisdom.
Then during the Middle Ages, griffins were used symbols of
Christ's resurrection.
|
|
Directions:
- I started by creating a polished stone effect background
on a piece of glossy white cardstock. This wash achieved by dotting
gold leafing pen a few times on the glossy cardstock, misting
the entire surface with 91% rubbing alcohol and applying teal,
green and plum alcohol ink with the aid of a small felt applicator.
- Then, I stamped the background image with black brilliance
ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.
- I trimmed the panel, matted it with metallic teal cardstock
and attached it to a black card.
- Next I stamped the griffin image with VersaMark ink onto
a piece of color laser transparency, added black embossing powder
and heat set the image (laser transparencies can take the heat
of embossing unlike most other types of transparencies).
- I colored the reverse side of the transparency with yellow,
patina and platinum glitter glues by stickles and sprinkled a
layer of loose ultra fine iridescent glitter over the still wet
glitter glued surface to make sure the image had full glitter
coverage.
- After the glue dried overnight, the image was carefully trimmed
close to the stamped lines and attached to the lower corner of
the card with pop dots.
- A computer text panel would be included inside the card giving
the legend of the Griffin.

"Dreaming"
Stamp Artist - Chris Keys |
|
Directions:
- I stamped the Grecian Lady and the building onto white semi-gloss
card, which had been sponged with ink from the Kaleidacolor pad,
and then cut them out.
- I sponged the card in the same colours - this particular
card had an embossed flower detail which I coloured in with felt
tip pens. I also coloured around the rim of the aperture with
a purple felt tip pen
- I stuck the material and the blue paper onto the aperture
backing, using double sided tape, then stuck the Grecian Lady
and the building onto the frabric and paper, ensuring that they
were in the correct place to show through the aperture in a pleasing
manner.
- Then, using double-sided tape again, I stuck the aperture
down onto its backing.
- Next, I cut out the Orchid and as, it was from the cover
of the plant magazine it didnt need sticking onto card,
as it rigid enough. I then stuck the orchid onto the front of
the aperture, setting it to one side, again using double-sided
tape.
- Using three corners from the peel off sheet, I stuck one
at the top of the oval and then one each side of it and covered
the edge of the opening with the decorative border. I then coloured
in through the gaps using a purple felt-tip pen.

- Cast a butterfly from the Krafty Lady mould, using the Creative
Paper Clay (this may take a whole day to dry).

buckle.
- Spray on top of the water with walnut ink, and follow with
a spray of Denim Adirondack Color Wash. Let dry. (I always make
a few backgrounds at a time, usually using full pages, which
I then cut in quarters to make quick cards) Spritz some Denim
Colourwash onto the dried butterfly cast. Allow to dry.
- When your background is dry, stamp the Brushstroke Grass
onto it, using the Memories Black inkpad.
- Mount onto the beige card with double sided tape or your
preferred adhesive.
- Using the rub-ons, highlight the raised parts of the butterfly.
- Affix to the card using your favorite adhesive (I used Gel
