Instructions:
I stamped the image with Brilliance Graphite Black onto
the sticky side of a piece of Gloss Laminate.
I then applied decorative tissue paper pieces in a
few places on the sticky laminate.
I used a dry paint brush and "painted" Moon Glow
pigment powders of various colors on the remainder
of the image.
Using Mono-Adhesive, I layered the image (sticky side down) onto
mulberry paper and then onto the journal cover. I added the title
with a gel pen and
added fibers with beads.
I outlined the image with 3-D glue from the Art Institute and
sprinkled pink hole-less beads on top of the glue.

"Burnt Copper Tulip Collage"
Stamp Artist Judy Hiam |
Materials:
Tooling copper
StampZia 4" tulip fan stamp
StampOutCute elongated tulip with words stamp
Stamp-A-Claus swirled border stamp
Hand stained background paper
Skeleton leaf
Butterfly charms
Copper wire, amber beads and a handmade paper clay button bead
Terra Cotta embossing powder
Krylon clear acrylic spray
Copper Pearlex
Linen card stock |
|
Directions
Hold copper over flame until it is covered with soot. Be sure
to use a tweezers to hold it because copper gets hot. Use a dry
stamp and stamp on the soot. The areas that are uncovered should
be colorful with pinks, greens and blues. If the colors are not
visible reheat the copper very slightly with the image now up,
facing you. You should be able to see the copper change color.
When heating is done spray the image with a clear acrylic coat.
(To get added shine to the sprayed image I once again passed
it through a flame, image side up. Care must be taken not to
overheat because the acrylic finish is flammable. This step is
only needed if you want more gloss than the acrylic leaves)
Stamp the words on hand stained paper and emboss with Terra Cotta
embossing powder.
Stamp the paper clay button with the border stamp and after it
is dry brush with Pearlex
Twist copper wire, adding beads and place the paper clay button
bead on the end
Assembling card
Tear the hand stained paper into 2 uneven pieces to cover the
linen card, overlapping a little off center.
Cut around the copper image and adhere it to peel and stick,
then dry emboss with a stylus and attach to background paper.
Hot glue 2 butterfly charms on the left above the image
Hot glue twisted wire on the right above the image.
Hot glue under the button bead and place the skeleton leaf with
the bead covering the stem of the leaf.

I used white
polyshrink, which I sanded lightly. I then stamped the small
bamboo sphere using black Zimink.
After it dried I colored in with colored pencils (Derwent).
Shading was achieved in two ways. Either using different
pencils of varying shades. Or by layering color repeatedly to
achieve darker shades. Color lightly as the colors intensify
after shrinking.
The plastic was shrunk in the oven and flattened after shrinking.
After cooling I sanded the edges, beveling them towards the back
so that no white showed from the front.
I applied 4 layers of GlassKote. (tip: I used removable scotch
tape (made a loop) to hold the piece while I applied the GlassKote.)
Then I glued (Barge or E6000) the piece to "Lacy's Stiff
Stuff" (you can substitute interfacing glued to card stock) |

"Zia Pendant"
Stamp Artist Susanne Willert |
I beaded a bezel around
the piece with a beaded back stitch. I made a wire eyepin and
poked two holes into ultrasuede for the loops to poke out. I
then glued the back of the beaded piece to the ultrasuede (with
the two wires loops on the outside).
I trimmed the ultrasuede and finished the edge with a 3 bead
edge stitch.

Stamp both stamps with black ink onto cream-colored
paper. (My paper had little black speckles in it, which reminded
me of the sandy shore.) Color the mermaid with colored pencils.
Take an embossing pen, and use it over her tail and the top and
bottom trim of her bodice. Then use it over her hair. (This will
give her hair a greenish tinge, which I thought was appropriate
for an undersea dweller.) Emboss with clear embossing powder.
Tear both images around the edges. Adhere
to a piece
of deep blue cardstock. Tear the edges of the blue
cardstock.
Cut a piece of blue wavy corrugated paper just a little bit smaller
than the size of the card you are using. Adhere corrugated paper.
Then cut a smaller rectangle out of complimentary paper. I used
something very thin and light blue, which had small fibers in
it as well as gold and silver speckles. Adhere this to the corrugated
paper at an angle.
|
|
Adhere the mermaid to the upper right-hand
corner. Use pop dots to adhere the saying to the
bottom left
corner.
With a tiny hole punch, punch 2 holes
through the corrugated paper near upper left hand corner of the
card. Thread fibers through and tie off as you wish. Embellish
with tiny shells.
