December Dragons Pop-Ups Card
Stamp Artist - Sandra Porter |
|
Inspiration:
The desire to create a microcosmal fantasy world of my own
with its' own archaic geography inhabited by unusual creatures.
Directions
- Cut acid-free cardstock to ATC size, 2 ½ x 3
½.
- Stamp dragon images and map on more cardstock using black
solvent ink, allow to dry.
- Scan stamped images in black and white (newspaper setting).
- Shrink stamped images to fit your ATCs by changing your image
size.
- Print smaller images.
- Color dragons with watercolor pencils.
- Cut dragons and Terra Sancto map out with sharp
scissors or X-acto blade.
- Affix cutout colored images to ATC cards where desired with
Mod Podge.
- Cut two rectangular pieces of cardstock, a little less wide
than two of your dragons, one about 2 long, the other about
1 ½ long.
- Bend skinny flaps on each end of both rectangular pieces
of cardstock.
- Bend the rectangular pieces of cardstock in two spots equidistant
from their centers, making a small rectangle that sticks up that
is a little thinner than your dragons.
- Glue (with Mod Podge) skinny flaps of one piece of rectangular
cardstock close to each other on your card where youd like
your dragons to be.
- Glue dragons of your choice to the rectangular parts that
have been bent to stick up. This will make your dragons pop-up
for a 3D visual effect that is very effective for flying dragons.
- Coat ATC with several thin layers of Mod Podge, allowing
to dry between coats. This will blend your watercolors as well
as add a protective layer to your ATC.
- Name, date, and sign the back of your ATC.
Besides making ATCs this project can create wonderful full
sized cards using the stamps life-size, and is especially eye-catching
if you glue the dragons in the oceans of old maps and old game
boards and add medieval calligraphy.
