December's "Stamp Artist Of The Month"
Stamp Artist - Chris Peden

Supplies:

Ivory or Off-White cardstock
Italian Wrapping Paper
2 standard shipping tags
Matboard
Sewing Machine
Hole Punch
Ribbon
Fiber
Post-it-Notes or Masking film or fluid
Black Brilliance or Memories Ink
Brown Dye Inks

"Stampsmith Pocket Tag Book"
Stamp Artist - Chris Peden

Cut cardstock for cover 5" by 9". Score at 4 ¾" and 5". Cut off the corners of the front cover as follows: Measure I ½" from the score line on the top and bottom edge of the shorter (front ) side. Find the center edge
of the shorter of the front cover and measure ¾" from the center each direction (so that you end up with a 1 ½" tab on the front cover). Cut off the corners.

Stamp front cover using Stampsmith Round Playing Cards and French Tarot Card and black ink. Stipple the front cover, with more color on the edges than in the center of the cover. Cover the back of the cover piece, inside and
outside, with Italian wrapping paper.

Cut Matboard in the shape of the front cover-approximately 3/8" wider on the angled and tab sides. Cover with Italian wrapping paper.

Tape two 2 3/8" by 4 ¾" shipping tags together side by side. Stamp with French Tarot card and stipple edges with brown ink, more intense than the cover stippling.

Cut a large sheet of ivory or off white cardstock to 14" by 8 ½". Score and fold up 3 ½" along the length. Stamp and stipple the folded front edge using the round playing cards and French Tarot Cards, masking each image as you go. Make eight 1 ½" tag pockets of the right-hand end of the folded cardstock by marking your lines and machine stitching on the line through
both layers. Make tags to fit the pockets using tag colored cardstock and stamp with Italian playing cards. Accordion fold on the stitching lines.
Using the holes in the shipping tags, center the tags on all of the layers, mark and punch holes in front and back covers, matboard, and unsewn end of tag pockets. Assemble and tie together with ribbon through the holes you
punched in each layer.

Paste down image. Frame with torn strips of black heavily textured handmade paper that has been accented with Lumiere white pearl. Add tiny fringe of fiber to soften inner edge of frame. Dust card with light coating of glitter.

I started with a full sized sheet of cardstock.  I stamped the background with Brilliance Cosmic Copper ink twice, side by side.

I stamped the Latin music stamp once on plain white paper with Black Memories ink, scanned it into my computer, enlarged it and changed the color to look like faded indigo ink, then printed it right over the marble background with my inkjet printer.

Cut the cardstock in half at this point. I then stamped the roses on the right side of the card with Colorbox Chestnut ink. I stamped the Madonna & Child stamp onto a transparency, applied Duo Adhesive, let that dry for ½ hour, then applied gold leafing flakes.

"Madonna & Child"

Stamp Artist - Julee K. Davis
I let the leafing flakes set for about ½ hour before brushing away the excess. I then trimmed it closely and layered it onto a piece of burgundy cardstock. Apply it to the card with double stick tape. With an exacto knife, cut two small slits in the card (as opposed to punching a hole) for the brad. Use the brad to secure the fibers – the Chenille fiber is from theCardLadies and the gold is metallic embroidery floss. I attached beads to the ends of the gold floss.

"Take Time To Bee In Love"
Stamp Artist - Linda Peoples
Stamp block #6 with black ink on white cardstock, set aside to dry.

On a 5"x7" top folded rose colored card, stamp "Fleur-de-Lis" in two opposite corners with Encore "Satin Rose", followed by stamping the manuscript background four times with the same Satin Rose. Set aside.

Once block#6 stamped image is dry, apply block-out tape and begin by stamping the feather with Brilliance Platinum pigment. Continue stamping the rest of the images with black ink.

Heat set to dry.
Once dry stipple colored inks in desired colors. Use crackle stamp with Brilliance gold where texture is needed. Dry. Remove Block-it tape.

Trim and mount on black cardstock, then mauve cardstock. Set aside.

On the rose stamped card, apply a smaller piece of blue cardstock at an angle, then apply the other assembled stamped card on top of the blue at an opposite angle.

Decorate with gold/black floss. Glue floss at several points to retain the shape you want.
Stamp Credits,
"Bella Rosa"- Lady's face La Femme, "Hero Arts"-manuscript background H214 (available through Stamper Studio), "Above The Mark"- Fleur-de-Lis crackle, "Just For Fun"- Clock face Bee, "Stampin'Up" - heart, "Inkadinkado"- Love (available through Stamper Studio), "Beeswax"- feather (barely noticeable), "Stamp-it" -block group#6

Turn the larger heraldic stamp face up and, using cosmetic sponges, sponge on currant, espresso and cranberry dye inks onto stamp in horizontal stripes.

Using a stamp positioner, stamp the image six times on cream cardstock, re-inking the image each time. Set aside.

Using the smaller heraldic image ink in the same manner as before and stamp one image on cream cardstock. Cutout image closely. Set aside.

Trim stamped background image to 3 3/4" X 5".

Cut two layers in complementary colors 1/8" and 1/4" larger than stamped background. Layer these with double-stick tape. Edge smaller image with currant ink.

"Fair Isle"
Stamp Artist - Jean Sutherland
As with background image make layers for the smaller image and punch corners of first layer with corner punch before affixing to the other layers. Mount smaller layered image to larger and mount all to 4 1/2" by 5 1/2" card.

Using a wine colored ink, stamp "LOVE" onto cream colored paper.  Then using a fine tipped permanent marker, color the actual letters black.

Cut the word into a rectangular shape and paste it onto a black rectangle of construction paper to which you have previously applied gold-tinsel embossing powder to the edge of. Fold a 7 x 10 piece of deep mauve colored cardstock in half and paste the assembly to it. Above and below the black rectangle glue rose colored ribbon roses and gold ribbon bows to the doily.

"Love"
Stamp Artist - Katheryn Hughett
TIP: Using the "M" and "O" from this alphabet to spell out "MOM" would work well with this card design also.

"The King of Hearts"
A Valentine for my husband

Stamp Artist - Martha Myers

The central image (the King of Hearts from The
Stampsmith 's French Playing Cards plate) was created using the “Caught in Crystal” technique.

I used
Posh Impressions Rainbow Inks on it (metallic gold and silver, carnation and red inks). When dry, cut out and set aside.

On a white background panel, randomly stamp The King of Hearts with gold pigment ink. Over stamp
VIVE LEROY (from The Stampsmith’s Petite Playing Cards plate) in black dye ink. Edge panel with gold leaf marker.

Melt gold Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE) in a hot pot. Pour onto craft mat and impress VIVE LEROY into hot UTEE. Rub lightly with silver Rub ‘n Buff and white Stickles glitter glue. Sprinkle Tango Bedazzles (available from Suze Weinberg) on top.

Stamp words (Hero Arts Alphabet set) onto black panel and emboss with pewter embossing powder. Edge panel with gold leaf marker. Adhere white background panel to this and then to a white card.

Cut three hearts from decorative paper. Rub silver and gold Rub ‘n Buff on ridges of red textured heart. Cut paper strips from gold metallic cardstock.

Adhere small red heart and red textured heart to card as shown. Adhere silver heart on edge of gold metallic panel and mount “Caught in Crystal” acetate image on that. Adhere to front of card with foam tape.

Tape paper strips to back of UTEE image and adhere to bottom of card with foam tape.

Decide on the color of your background and pick puzzle pieces of that color.

With a small stamp, stamp on the puzzle pieces using gold metallic ink.

Cover pieces with UTEE using several coats. Arrange
the pieces in an interesting, abstract design and glue them together making two layers.

Heat the UTEE again and sprinkle with beads, glitter, etc
to achieve desired effect. Edge the puzzle pieces using a gold or silver Krylon Gold Leaf pen.

"Ophelia Puzzle Pin"
Stamp Artist - Sandi Schmidt
Stamp a background design on a "mini mat" using a background stamp of choice - coat with several layers of UTEE and again sprinkle on some glitter, beads, etc.

Stamp Ophelia onto shrink plastic using a permanent black ink; color softly with chalks, shrink and position onto mini mat and glue it down. Jewels/beads can be added as accents to the puzzle pieces.

Stamp and emboss Round Playing card (Stampsmith) with gold ink and powder twice on turquoise card stock. Cut out outer ring and spade on one image.

On 2nd image, color inside circle with copper leafing pen. Mount outer ring and spade to 2nd image with foam tape. Layer onto larger mirrored gold card stock and larger circle colored with copper leafing pen. Set aside.

Stamp turquoise rectangle with small square stamp (I made mine out of the rubber remains from my Round Playing card sheet) repeatedly as shown with gold ink to form "checkerboard" pattern. In "blank" areas, stamp with another metallic color.

Stamp over the gold squares again with a different metallic color, applying pressure to only one corner of the stamp.
Edge rectangle with copper leafing pen. Adhere to larger gold mirror paper and finally to folded turquoise card. Glue various fibers to card and mount round playing card image with foam tape.

I used Copper Stardream Paper and stamped the word stamp on it. (StampaRosa) Embossed it with Black Disco Embossing Powder.

I took white card stock and coffee stained it. I stamped Ophelia (Stampsmith) on that with
Coffee Brilliance Ink. Then I burnt the edges with some fire.

I cut out of black paper a square. Attached it to the Copper Stardream paper I added some Off White fiber paper and attached the Ophelia image over that. I stamped the Pegasus stamp (Judikins) on Copper Stardream paper and embossed it with Black Disco Embossing Powder, cut it out and attached it to the card. Then I added the fibers to the side of the card.
