Inspiration:

I like making fun and unusual Artist Trading Cards (ATC’s) and I also enjoy creating domino (game tile) art, and chose to combine the two for this quick and easy project.

Directions:

  1. Sponge the black Neo-Opaque paint onto the chipboard with the cosmetic sponge and let dry. (front, back and sides)
  2. A slight “polished stone” effect was created on the Game tile.
  3. Scribble Pink and a little Turquoise sharpie marker onto the game tile.
  4. Spritz the game tile with the 91% rubbing alcohol
  5. Blend by daubing with the white felt pad.

"Princess"
Stamp Artist - Liesbeth van Ree

Directions

  1. Create a background by running little lines of glue over white paper and letting these dry. After they are dried, paint over them with waterpaint and let the paint dry. Once dried, remove the glue from the background.
  2. For the background of the centre piece, stamp the flower with versamark on white paper and let it dry. Once dry, paint over it with the waterpaint. Make sure you use a lot of water and dont go over the versamark-image too often.
  3. The versamark will resist the waterpaint and the flower remains slightly visible. Let the paint dry. Once dry, stamp Kharya on the paper with black StazOn.
  4. Mount the centre piece with Kharya and the background with "glue lines" on black paper. Then attach the centre piece on the background with the "glue lines".
  5. Finally, attach a piece of fibre along the edges with the glue.

"Southwest Bear"
Stamp Artist - Kathryn Donoho-Munro

Supplies & Rubber Stamps:

  • Rubber Stamps
    Gila Bear, 843D, small - B & J Arts Stamps
  • Speckled Rust cardstock
  • Black cardstock
  • Copper nail heads
  • Embossing ink - Judi-Kins
  • Liquid appliqué (Brown, White, Orange, Yellow) - Marvy/Uchida
  • Chunky Embossing Power (copper) - B & J Art Stamps
  • Watermark ink - Versamark
  • Double-sided tape and adhesive of choice

Directions:

  1. Cut 3 5x4 pieces from black cardstock.
  2. Cut rust cardstock to 4 ¼ x 11, fold to form card.
  3. On first piece of black cardstock, apply a good coat of embossing ink (remember it dries fast). Then quickly apply a coat of embossing powder. Now heat with heat gun. Next apply your choice of liquid appliqué/s. Apply lines or squiggles of the appliqué on the cardstock, using your finger, rub it over the surface, edge to edge. Heat again. As you heat the appliqué, you will see it raise and crinkle. Note: there is a fine line between the paper burning and all of the appliqué crinkling, so you might wish to practice on a small piece before your final piece.
  4. On second piece of black cardstock, apply liquid appliqué. Again, use your choice of colors, apply in lines or squiggles, and using your finger, rub the appliqué of the surface. Heat with heat gun. You will notice this layer will feel similar to soft leather or suede. Next apply a light, varied coat of embossing ink over the surface. (You want the appliqué to show through when finished) Now apply the embossing powder, then heat.
  5. One the last piece of black cardstock, stamp the bear design with watermark ink, apply the embossing powder and heat. Cut out bear.
  6. Tear each of the embossed pieces to your desired shapes. Layer the two torn pieces and attach nail heads. If desired, the two pieces can be layered either way. Mine was done with the second embossed piece first, etc. It's simply a matter of choice. Attach these two pieces to card with adhesive.
  7. Finally, attached the cut out bear with double-sided tape for a nice raised look.
