  • Synthetic Aged Bone Beads

  • Chief Feathers stamp (Acey Duecy K2-802, carried by Stamp Diva)

"Indian Chief Feathers"
Stamp Artist - Barbara DiPrizio

Directions

Apply Vari-Tone ink to a cosmetic make-up sponge and brush sponge over stamp. Stamp onto paper bag piece. Tear edges around the image, then rub the inked sponge along the edges. Use a heat gun to activate the ink, being careful not to apply too much heat. Unless you have a very light touch with the heat gun, the edges will catch on fire in spots. I used a heavy piece of folded paper to douse the fire, just put the burning paper in the folded paper and press down firmly to suffocate. You don’t have to work quickly with this ink, you can even come back the next day and it will still be activated when heat is applied.

Tear edges of mango piece to layer behind Indian piece. Tear one long edge of the rust cardstock.

Take the gold piece length-wise and fold 1 1/2" over, so now the piece should measure 5" x 4 3/4". Score the brown piece 1 1/2" into the 5" side so that it fits over the gold piece, with the flap of the gold piece folded over top of the brown piece.

Use a strip of repositionable tape to hold the 2 pieces together while you punch 10 holes along the edge (I used a 3/16" eylet punch). Holes should be approximately 1" apart vertically, and 3/4" apart horizontally. Take 29" of leather lace and pull half of it through one of the top holes. Continue threading it through the holes to form half an x, until you get to the bottom, then work your way back up to form the other half of the x. Work laces through the top holes so they dangle on the front of the card. If you used tape to hold the pieces together, you can now remove it.

Using double stick tape, or stick glue, apply the rest of the prepared layers. Slide beads onto the leather laces, moving them around until you are satisfied with their placement, then slide them off and apply Elmer’s glue on the lace where you want to bead to be. Put bead back on and apply a dot of glue to the end of a feather, then slide feather up into bead. (You may want to put scrap paper between the laces and card to protect your work from any stray glue) Let sit a few hours for glue to dry, then cut off the ends of your lacing if you had some sticking out from the beads.

1. Color Gracious Lady stamp with black marker and stamp on white cardstock. Cut the lady out from the background script. Stamp it again and cut out only the hat. Color the lady's lips with the red marker and add blush to her cheeks with the red chalk using a small fine paint brush. Wrap the lady with spotted fabric turning in the top edge as you do it. Use double sided tape to hold it together. Using the Dove blender apply the gold Pearl Ex to the cut-out hat and trimming it with the russet. Glue the hat directly on top of the hat on the stamped lady.

2. Color the Small Liquid Amber stamp with the cherry, green and brown markers and set aside. Color in the leaf on the Skyland stamp with the cherry maker. You can use black marker here and there on the rest of the stamp if desired. Emboss the mosaic tag with the bronze UTEE. Emboss the tag a second time, this time sprinkling in some gold UTEE along with the bronze. While the UTEE is still hot press the leaf in the upper right hand corner. Press the Skyland stamp in the lower left slanting it slightly. Add a little blue and red Rub ‘n Buff to the lower right hand corner. Also add some of the red to the raised edge of the stamped leaf. Put fiber and ribbon through the hole.

3. After stamping, drawing or printing a capital "A"on white cardstock, cut it out and emboss it with bronze UTEE and rub some of the red Rub n' Buff on it. Insert the eyelet into the bottom right of the letter. Fashion the remainder of the word ‘Autumn' with the wire inserting (if you wish) seed beads as you go. Add the lettered wire to the "A" by way of the eyelet.

4. Cut the edges of the tan cardstock with the patterned scissors. Stamp the script to the right side of the Gracious Lady stamp in cherry and brown toward the upper left of the cardstock with a slant. (Actually, when you are coloring it with the markers, you will be coloring on the left.) Stamp the oak leaf in various combinations of red, cherry, brown and dark brown on the tan cardstock. Layer the tan cardstock on the folded cranberry cardstock.

5. Affix the lady to the left of the script and attach the feather to her.

6. Add the tag and the word "Autumn". Finish off with gold beads if desired.
