bought link bracelet)
- shrink plastic
- alcohol inks and extender (Tim
Holz/ranger industries)

"Faux Glass bracelet"
Stamp & Jewelry Artist - Sandra Clark-Ferrua |
|
Directions:
- Cut shrink plastic into arbitrary
shapes and wedges
- Color some pieces with coloring
pencils, leave others blank
- Select stamps, ink, and stamp
images onto pieces. On the pencil colored pieces, stamp on the
opposite side of the shrink plastic so the pencil is on one side
and the stamping on the other.
- Punch hole into each piece
- Shrink with heat gun
- Use alcohol inks in VERY small
amounts to color the backsides of the stamped, not yet colored
pieces.
- Use Krylon pen to outline edges
of each piece
- If making your own bracelet,
wrap wire around a pencil into a coil, then use wire cutters
to cut into jump rings. Bend first jump ring into circle, hook
second one into first, close...continue until desired length
is achieved. For closure, cut a piece of wire, bend into a tight
circle around the last link, then bend into a tight hook (similar
to an s-hook) to hook onto the bracelet, cut off excess. An alternative
is to form a T-closure like on bangle bracelets. If using a store
bought bracelet, this step is skipped.
- Use jump rings (if making your
own, make them the same way as the links for the bracelet, just
a bit smaller) to attach one "glass shard" to each
link in the bracelet up to app. 1" away from the closure.

Directions - Beaded bracelet
This is a simple single strand
bracelet, easiest for beginners. Start by anchoring the circle
of the toggle to the wire with a crimp bead. Add your beads in
an attractive pattern, adding each bead one at a time. End the
bracelet by adding a crimp, then the toggle, then thread the
wire back through the crimp bead and at least two more beads.
My bracelet, I used seed beads. Pull the wire tight with your
pliers, using your hand to fold the toggle. Since will remove
the slack, and then crimp your bead. Trim extra wire from both
crimped areas. We will add our gift in with the fibers on the
card.
Directions - Beaded Bookmark
Cut your first piece of ivory
card to 6 long x 1 ½ wide. Color over this
piece with watercolor crayons in the same colors as your beads
(Teal, blue, green, dark green). Dip the whole piece into a tray
of water and quickly remove, blot extra water off with paper
towel. Let dry or use heat to speed up drying. Next add a few
drops of water to the H20 watercolor and let stand a couple of
minutes (Blue Grass). Paint directly onto your stamp and stamp
over the crayon marks. This will add shine and dimension to the
background. Let dry completely. Tape to Navy cardstock and stamp
with Palette ink. Use paper piercing tool and mat to make your
holes to thread your beads through. Using black-waxed thread
and a mix of leftover beads from the bracelet to add a bead after
each hole. Double tie the knot at the bottom. Using eyelet tool
or Japanese screw punch to make holes to hang your charms or
bangles from. Thread thin wire and add your beads. I added letter
beads to form the word BOOK to add whimsy. Wrap the bookmark
with ribbon to cover your holes. Add the charm Love
with fibers. Finish with handwritten words and dots for your
bees.
Directions - he card is your
Gift
Start by stamping print pattern
on small envelope. Seal the envie and turn it sideways and cut
the top off. This will make the pocket for your bookmark. Add
the small tag with the word Read and set aside.
Add three different chalk inks
directly to the glossy paper quickly spray with enough alcohol
for the chalk to run. Shake your paper around. Next roll your
brayer over your spectrum pad and roll over the chalk inks. This
will give you a beautiful background. Stamp in teal the background
stamp. Stamp word and flowers with palette ink.
Add your envelope, bookmark,
fibers and bracelet to finish the card off.

NOTES:
* Found jewelry is easy to come by at garage sales. The earring
used as the face in this pin came from a garage sale. The owner
couldn't believe I'd want just one so she gave it to me. Ask
your friends for orphan earrings or old jewelry from their jewelry
boxes. Always keep an eye out for embellishments in unlikely
places!
*As this is a one of a kind piece,
you can display it in a shadowbox as art when it's not being
worn.
If selling your designed piece,
price it according to the degree of heartbreak you will experience
at seeing it leave home because, let's face it, we can never
really charge enough to pay for our time.

- Rubber Stamps:
swirl background stamp (stubby stampers)
head stamp and arm stamps ("Art parts", from Sunday
intl.)
- Polymer clay in black, bronze
and rust (Skulpey and Fimo)
- Liquid polymer (Skulpey)
- gold and blue Pearl-Ex (Pearl-Ex)

heal seams.
- Press swirl background stamp
into clay, working on one side at a time, texturing all four
sides of the matchbox.
Dip finger into gold pearl-ex and rub lightly over all four sides
of matchbox so raised areas are gold and only recessed areas
remain black.
- Roll brown clay into thin snake,
wrap around left and right edges of matchbox, making sure the
drawer is still able to slide in and out easily.
- Roll tiny balls of black clay
and use toothpick to attach, pressing and rotating toothpick
at the same time, then pulling out. This gives the effect of
small beads.
- Roll out thin sheet of black
clay, firmly press in the head and arms stamps. Keep the stamp
in the clay and use toothpick to "cut" clay around
the stamp shape, then remove stamp and carefully peel clay off
work surface.
- Gently rub surface of arms and
head with blue pearl-ex.
- Rub small amount of liquid polymer
to backside of head and arms, then lightly press to box.
- Outline shape with liquid polymer,
then set gold beads into the liquid polymer to outline the shape.
- Roll short snake from black
clay, app. 1/2" thick, cut into two fat beads. Rub with
gold pearl-ex, then attach to top of box with a dab of liquid
polymer.
- Attach thin brown snakes around
base of fat beads.
- Bend wire into eye-pins, dab
with liquid polymer, then push into the fat beads so only the
eye remains visible.
- For secret compartment, rub
some liquid polymer onto each of the inside surfaces, line with
pieces of thinly rolled out black clay, heal seams.
- Cut toothpick in half and use
blunt side to texture clay, rub with gold pearl-ex
- Roll thin brown snake and run
along bottom corners of compartment. Add black and bronze mini
beads.
- Replace secret compartment into
box, bake according to mfr. directions.....2/3 of baking time
with compartment left in place, then the last 1/3 of the total
time with compartment separate from pendant.

eye hooks and attach closures.
