Background: Take
several complimentary colors of oil pastels and scribble on cardstock.
Soften and blend colors by rubbing with your fingertips. Ink
lace background stamp by Stampin' Up! with black pigment ink.
Pour clear embossing powder over entire card, shake off excess
and heat powder. Note that oil pastels stays 'wet' so the embossing
powder will stick to entire card. I found that dye base ink does
not stamp well on top of the oil pastel background. Must use
pigment ink. Trim lace background and adhere to folded glossy
black card.
Layers: Cut purple square panel, scribble and blend oil
pastels as the background. Round corners with punch. Round corners
of glossy black square panel.
Teabag medallion: Stamp rose (SU!) on
upper left corner of eight 2" 'corona harmony' origami paper.
Fold and assemble medallion. Assemble card as pictured.

Open Star Card - Tea
Bag Folding
Submitted by Sharon

This card
works well to show a stamped image (through the opening) appearing
to "burst" through the front of the card. This one
was made with glossy card stock, with shiny wrapping paper cut
into 8 two inch squares. Fold the wrapping paper squares as shown
in diagram below, then attach them together to form the "open
star" as shown, and glue to the front of the pre-folded
glossy card stock card.
Then cut the center of the "star" out to make the opening
in the front of the card. I used butterfly stamps from Hampton
Art Stamps, but any
butterflies, birds, bees, etc., would work. I raised one butterfly
on the inside of the card with a pop |

fly through the opening. I stamped some on the outside and glued
a few more on the outside to give some a 3D effect. Finally,
I outlined the card front with a gel pen. |
