Shadow Stamping with Radiant Pearls
Take a shadow stamp of choice,
Stipple your favorite colors of radiant
pearls all over them and then stamp it...
let this absorb into your paper.
Once done then you can stamp onto it!

Make Your Own Shadow
Stamps
Contributed from Jan Janek
Use Fun Foam to make your own shadow stamps. Simply cut
out your square, round or any shape with plain or decorative
scissors. Attach to a wooden block with rubber cement or
use your favorite mounting technique and you have your own shadow
stamp!
I like to use this to mimic the shape of my stamp. For
example, if you have an image of a butterfly, stamp the image
and use that as a guide to cut the fun foam slightly larger,
but in the same shape.
Then use the foam as a shadow stamp and stamp your butterfly
image on top. |

"Shadows With Chalks"
Using the VersaMark pad, stamp the Hero Arts Shadows stamp on
matte cardstock
Using a cotton ball, pat chalk color wherever you want it with
a soft brush, cover the ink stamp image with black -- See sample
Hibiscus - Not Colored shows it at this stage.
You can either leave as it, or emboss
in clear (the Versamark underneath the chalk is still "wet)
-- OR -- you can color with Prismacolor colored pencils -- See
sample Hibiscus-Colored
Because the Versamark is still "wet",
it's easy to blend and color.

Dragonfly, Iris, Koi - Stamp Zia
A Variation on the dark cardstock w/ Powdered Pearls...
Using the VersaMark pad, stamp the Hero
Arts Shadows stamp using a soft brush, dip it into various colors
of Powdered Pearls, and
"bounce", "swirl" or "streak" the
powder over the cardstock when you're done applying the Powdered
Pearls, brush it around, covering
all of the VersaMark ink -- brush off excess powdered pearls.

Let dry or dry with a heat gun (this
will take awhile).
Because I'm impatient, and my heat gun is my backup (not my Milwaukee,
which gets a lot hotter) -- I found that the Versamark wasn't
drying fast enough for me ... So I stamped the image in black
(Memories or Document Black) - and then I embossed the entire
image in clear.
I used black matte cardstock for the
Dragonfly & Iris samples, and a cinnamon colored cardstock
for the Koi sample shown.

"Zana's Style"
Using the VersaMark pad, stamp the Hero Arts Shadow Stamp. Using
a soft brush, dip it into various colors of Powdered
Pearls, and "bounce", "swirl"
or "streak" the powder over the cardstock.
When you're done applying the Powdered Pearls, brush it around,
covering all of the VersaMark ink --
Brush off excess powder let dry or dry with a heat gun (this
will take awhile) stamp and emboss image
For this example, I used Jade, a little
Spring Green, and the Midnight Green. And I embossed in detail
gold.
The background was also not quite dry!
- there are "specks" of gold in the circle. I might
switch to colored pigment ink and clear embossing powder....

"Birthday Present"
Ink your shadow stamp with color (light
purple pigment).
Using smaller stamps, "take away" color from the shadow
stamp, stamp the shadow stamp.
Here the shadow was done 4 times --
and it looked like a birthday present -- or a candle -- a "flame"
was put on this one, but ribbon
would work as well.

"Thinking of You"
On folded card stock, stamp the larger shadow stamp in light
green and light blue hues.
Over stamp with the screen background stamp in
dark blue hues. For the tag a checker board pattern was made
using the smaller shadow stamp in the same green and blue hues.
Stamp "Thinking of you" in dark blue hues and then
add the dragon fly to the squares. Finally go over the tag with
the speckle stamp in gray. Affix to card with foam tape and then
add your floss and bead. |
Materials:
Stamps: shadow stamps by Hero Arts,
Dragon Fly and words by Endless Creations, screen background
stamp by Annette Watkins, speckle background stamp by Impressive
Stamps.
Papers: shipping tag, pewter confetti card stock.
INKS: Kaleidacolor (I use these pads a lot) fresh greens,
and blue breeze, gray dye ink
Other: glue stick, floss, small bead, double stick foam
tape. |

"Random Shadows"
Ink the shadow stamps with the main
color (soft gold).
Stamp some of them onto the cardstock... stamp some of the off
the cardstock onto to scrap, and use the 2nd stamping on the
cardstock (this gives a softer version of the same color)
Stamp the heart on another piece of
cardstock, and layer as shown.

Shadow
Stamping
Stripes & Blocks - By Kathy LaRocco
I got the idea for this card from the Jan/Feb issue of The Rubber
Stamper. I do not remember the Artists name but I thought the
card was fabulous.
Using the Kaleidacolor pad, stamp the shadow stamp at random
on a white panel in different shades of green, purple, and blue.
Using the edge of a pigment ink pad (such as the option pads
by Colorbox). Slash blue lines vertically and diagonally down
the panel.
Using the edge of a gold ink pad, slash lines horizontally across
the panel. Allow to dry. Affix panel to a purple one.
Wrap with gold cord/thread and a bead. Using the shadow stamp,
stamp at random on folded blue card.
Brush with gold metallic powder. Fix using a
fixative such as Krylon. Use foam tape to raise the decorative
panel off from the blue card. |

"Double Loading"
this is my favorite...
Using a tri-color Versacolor pigment
pad.... ink the shadow --
Use 2 of the colors each time, create a pattern if desired (as
shown)... no stamp positioner was used - just "eye ball
it"...
Over stamp with image using black permanent.
Hint: Reason for using a tri-color pad
-- you know that the colors look good together!

"Flowers"
Ink the sand stamp with two colors of pigment ink & stamp
(Ink & stamp a total of 6 times on cardstock) --
Eye balling it stamp the flower image with black permanent color
with Prismacolors when all ink is dry.
Hint: if the edges don't line up, just
cut them off! try not to leave gabs on the inside. better to
overlap the inside than have gabs. (in my opinion)
All images from Phil's at Red
Castle....
Phil calls his sand stamps, not shadow stamps, they have patterns
in them.

"Mini Book"
Stamp the pages with any ink.
Stamp the shadow using 2 colors from the Veracolor tri-pad (Cotton
Candy)...
Change how you hold the stamp when you stamp the pages --
make all the odd pages pink/purple, and all the even pages purple/pink.
|

Stamp Artist - Mary Garvey |
Then stamp the phrase inside
the shadow cut out the pages & assemble (instructions to
assemble book are sold with the Limited Edition book stamps)
Stamps used:
Limited Edition makes stamps that help you to create books -
they have a "pages" stamp and a "cover" stamp...
both were used to create the mini book.
