Resist Stamping Techniques

Stamp Artist - Pam Fraser
The face is a stamp from A Stamp In The Hand.

I just did the normal Joseph Coat method - colors of Marvy Brush markers I chose to randomly scribble color on white glossy cs.

Stamp and emboss image in clear. Color overall with black Marvy Brush marker and wipe off excess.

Cut out with decorative scissors and foam tape mounted on card front. Used spiral hole punch on yellow triangle piece of cs and this is mounted with double stick tape to card front.

The saying stamp (from VIP) is stamped on card front in Encore gold ink. I also used the spiral punch on the right hand bottom corner of the back inside panel of the card.

This is a Magenta stamp. Same Joseph Coat method as on the sample card shown above.

I just stamped the image twice, cut them out, and foam tape mounted them onto yellow glossy cs panel which I had cut out with decorative scissors and had mounted with double stick tape to black glossy card front.

The pear is from A Stamp in the Hand and the Kanji Poem is from Hero Arts (#f1817).

For this one, I applied Radiant Pearls directly to my pear stamp and then I stamped the image onto white cs (I believe I used glossy for this).

I did the same with the Kanji Poem. Then I embossed both with clear ep. Next, I covered the whole thing with black Colorbox pigment ink and embossed again with the clear ep.

The previously stamped images reappear as you emboss. I mounted this panel to a gold panel with double stick tape which was then mounted to the red card front with double stick tape. I then used my glue gun and a black glue stick to dribble some glue onto the card front and placed an oriental charm I had into the glue.

The four resist stamping example shown above, stamp artist Robin Wilkins used the Ranger Resist pad on glossy stock, heat set & brayered Kaliedacolor ink over the top. Except for the Strawbery card example, shadow ink was daubed on using a sponge.

Stamp Artist Debbie, used glossy white cardstock, Versamark ink, Creamy Caramel (SUp!) ink, a brayer, and a background stamp (i think it's from D.O.T.S.).

Once you have stamped the cardstock with your background image, you brayer the color of your choice over the top.

I have found that it does NOT look good at first... almost like it's not going to work. Just keep brayering. eventually.. the design shows thru!

It's great for layering.

Resist Stamping with waxed paper

The technique I just learned for quick and colorful backgrounds blows me away.

You need glossy paper (any size), wax paper (just bigger than the paper), and an iron. Crumble up the wax paper and then set between the glossy sides of the glossy paper.

Take an iron at medium heat and iron over the paper for between 10 and 30 seconds. When you're done, take one of the glossy sheets and cover with ink. I used a brayer on a rainbow pad.
You can also use a sponge or the ink pad itself, or any other way you can think to put the ink on the paper.

The ink brings out some wonderful designs. The different ways that you fold the wax paper bring out bring out wonderful designs.

You don't always have to crumble the paper either. Just play with the wax paper and see what beautiful images arise.

Resist Stamping

1.
On white glossy cardstock, stamp a bold image repeatedly in a random pattern using untinted embossing ink. Dry with a heat tool.

2. Brayer dye ink over the entire card.

3. Stamp same image again with the same dye ink you used to brayer the card.

4. (Optional) Emboss a few more of the same image in a clear glitter embossin powder for more effect. Add a phrase if you like in a darker, coordinating color. You're done!

It's easy, and looks very impressive!
