Creating Post-it
Notebooks is not new to the stamping world. I have seen
these made with decorative paper, as well as wallpaper.
It seems that everyone has their own way of creating these useful
little books, including me.
During the holidays I used up nearly my entire stash of art paper
when a friend asked to make her some Post-it books to use as
stocking stuffers.
I have since then discovered "Stiff Stuff" from theCardLadies. "Stiff Stuff" is basically pre-cut
mat board. Did someone say "pre-cut"? I LOVE
"ready to use" things, don't you?
I quickly placed my order with theCardLadies, and in a few days
I received my "Post-it Notebook Kit" |
 |
The kit contains eleven 3 1/2" pre-cut "Stiff Stuff"
squares, available in black, white and cream ... enough to make
five Post-it Books, and also includes a few notepads! The
"eleventh" piece of 3 1/2" pre-cut "Stiff
Stuff" will be used to create your five binders. The
best part is ... instead of using my expensive art paper to cover
the book, I was able to do what stampers love to do .... STAMP!
Materials:
2 - 3 1/2" "Stiff Stuff" Squares
1 - 3 1/2 x 1/4" "Stiff Stuff" Binder
1 piece of Suede Paper - 4 1/2 x 2"
1 piece of Suede Paper - 3 1/2 x 2"
| Step One: Stamp and emboss a design two 3 1/2" "Stiff
Stuff" Squares, as shown in Figure A. One square will be
the front cover, the other will be the back |
Step Two: Color in your stamp design, as shown in Figure
B.
In the sample shown in step 2, I stamped with Stamp Zia's large Ginkgo
Background, and used Radiant Pearls for my color. |

Step three:
For a coordinating color on
the inside covers, using "Ink Ticklers", from Meer
Image, I applied Radiant Pearls on
the inside of the front and back cover and edged both squares
with a black marker.
Using the "eleventh" stiff stuff square, cut a 1/4"
piece to use as your binder. |
Now you are ready to put
your book together!
Step Four: Run your suede paper, available from Marcos
Paper, through your Xyron, using the
one-sided permanent adhesive.
Lay your 4 1/2 x 2" piece of suede paper, Sticky side up,
onto your work surface.
Carefully place your 3 1/2" x 1/2" binder in the center,
from side to side and top to bottom, as shown in figure C. |

| Step Five: Leaving about 1/8" gap, lay down your front
cover, and then your back cover, as shown in figure D |

Figure D |
| Step Six: From the top and bottom, carefully fold your
suede paper over, as shown in Figure E. |

| Step Seven: Take your remaining 3 1/2 x 2" piece of
suede pager and lay it on top of the inside of your binder, as
shown in Figure F. |
