Temporary Mounting
Contributed by Elisa Lara
I use Aleene's Tacky Glue on back of stamp and glue to 1/4"
thickness of foam sheets. Also, sometimes I "piggy-back"
the stamp to the size of a wooden stamp by gluing an 1/8"
thickness of foam sheets - just
enough cushioning needed. Works greeeeeeaaaaaattttttt.
I have a collection of "tins"
- lunch kits, different shapes - bus, drum, taxi, etc. that I
had planned to use for gifts as the wrapping and placing the
gift inside. I just couldn't part with them, they were TOO CUTE.
So now they serve a "dual purpose" - I display them
on my bookshelves in MY STAMP SPACE "sandwiched" between
the washer and dryer of my laundry room. In the "tins"
- I store my embellishments/accessories/tools, etc. I just write
on a lable the contents and stick to the front, so at a glance
I know what I'm looking for.
I display my "trade pins"
on a +" rug canvass size and hung it on the wall.
MY STAMP SPACE includes a TV/VCR, radio/CD
player, no COMPUTER. After 8 hours a day, I've had enough!!!!!!Rubberstamping
is very therapeutic for me - I'm not bothered once I step over
the threshold of CREATIVITY HAPPENINGS.
Keep up the good work......a happy stamper,
Elisa Lara.
Temporary Mounting - Made Easy!

I do not have easy access to mounting materials where I live
and "hate" cutting mounting cushion or HALOS loop,
so I use the following for mounting stamps: put double-sided
tape on your block (I use Scotch poster tape) and stick your
image to that. Then stamp on top of a cushioned mouse pad. The
mouse pad acts as your cushion so you get a complete image. This
is the cheapest thing I have found for mounting and works like
a charm. I rarely have to replace the poster tape on my blocks
and it's readily available at Wal-Mart (or the grocery store)
so I never worry about running out of mounting materials.
Mounting Smaller Stamps!
You can use wine corks to mount small stamps! Either the plain
cork or the ones with a metal cap on them work fine! Corks also
make a neat stamp in themselves for background work. Just slice
off the inked portion when finished!

Permanent Mounting of Your Stamps
Materials needed:
*Unmounted rubber die
*Double Sided Mounting Cushion
*Wood Block
*Black Ink
Peel the paper off one side of your mounting cushion and place
your die onto your cushion, this way you will be cutting the
die and cushion at the same time for a perfect match! Trim up
as close to the die as you can without cutting it. Hold your
scissors at an angle so that you are cutting away from the rubber
and not under the rubber.
Press your die onto your black Ink Pad and then lay it on its
back on a flat surface and press your pre-selected block of wood
down onto the die in the position you plan to put the die. Let
the indexing dry. When the ink on your block of wood has dried,
peel the paper backing off the other side of the double mounted
cushion (one side of your cushion is already mounted to your
die.) and stick it to the underside of the wood.
Temporary Mounting
on acrylic blocks
Materials needed:
Unmounted rubber die
Double Sided Mounting Cushion
Acrylic Block
Static Cling Vinyl
Black Ink
Peel the paper off one side of mounting cushion - as large of
an area as needed to lay down your rubber die(s). If you are
cutting a sheet of rubber, with multiple images, cut between
each die so you have them separated. Cut die and cushion at the
same time for a perfect match! Trim up as close to the die as
you can without cutting it. Hold your scissors at an angle so
that you are cutting away from the rubber and not under the rubber.
Peel the paper backing off the other side of the double mounted
cushion (one side of your cushion is already mounted to your
die.) and adhere shiny side of static cling vinyl to cushion.
Cut off excess vinyl around stamp and peel the paper backing
from the vinyl. Adhere the vinyl mounted stamp to an acrylic
block closest to the size of your stamp... if more static is
needed, rub vinyl a piece of carpet.
You're ready to stamp! When you are done stamping, peal your
*temporary* mounted stamp off our your acrylic block and you
are ready to use another of your temporary mounted stamps! Acrylic
blocks wash up very easily. If I get ink on my acrylic, (and
I do!), I grab a baby wipe and clean it off.

For mounting small stamps. I like to
purchase unmounted stamps due to the savings. I try to get them
with cushion whenever possible.
I recycle old wood thread spools and
I am able to mount a small stamp on each end. In the middle of
the spool I right the company name where the stamps were purchased.
I also find these spools at craft stores,
Walmart, etc., in the wood craft section. I found some nice wood
turnings in different shapes. On the right you will see a scan
of a stamp that I indexed and mounted on a birdhouse turning.
I think these are so cute that I keep them displayed on a shelf
in my stamping room.

The
flower and the bee are stamps from The Rubber Riot. They
were both purchased through your club. The Dreamed up by....
stamp was purchased from The Closet Stamper.
I had never heard of Stacey's company, The Closet Stamper, until
she became a vendor with your club! I love her stamps! |
Mounting your own stamps

When mounting your own stamps,
after placing your dies on the sticky side of the cushion, sprinkle
baby powder all over the remaining exposed sticky part of your
sheet of cushion and shake off excess. It works like magic ...
the sticky is gone! This makes for quick, easy and clean cutting
and you won't even have to clean your scissors!
