Step 3

Basic Steps:

  1. Cut three pieces of muslin fabric. One piece should be long enough and wide enough to fit beyond the length and width of the binder when opened flat. The other two pieces should be an inch and a half longer and wider than the size of the chipboard.
  2. Lay out the fabric on newspaper. Lay plastic leaves over top of the fabric and spray fabric with Color Wash Sprays. Remove leaves and heat set the inks.
  3. Stamp images randomly on the fabric using permanent inks. Heat set.
  4. Brush gold Lumiere paint randomly over fabric using a small foam brush.
  5. Adhere fusible felt fiber to the outside cover with hot glue. Also adhere fusible fiber to chipboard using hot glue.
  6. Lay muslin fiber over top of chipboard. Turn over and work from the back side to adhere. Miter corners. Run hot glue along edge of chipboard and fold fabric over to backside to adhere. Set aside.
  7. On the inside of the binder, hot glue two strips of the muslin fabric along each edge of the binder rings. Tuck the fabric under the binder and hot glue into place.
  8. To cover the outside of the binder, lay muslin stamped side down and open binder flat on top of fabric. Miter the corners. Hot glue the top and bottom edges of the binder first. Run glue along top edge and fold fabric over to adhere. Tuck fabric under the metal binder and hot glue. Do the same with the bottom edge. Now fold the sides over to the inside and hot glue into place.
  9. Attach the covered chipboard pieces to the inside covers with hot glue.
  10. Spray wooden letters with gold metallic spray paint. Color with rub-ons and attach to binder cover with hot glue.
