Directions:
THE MAT (Clock Frame)
- Scribble/squirt a linear
design on the mat surface using Zia Resist as shown in figure
A. Let dry over night.
- Using one of your spay
bottles, mist water over the entire mat surface.
- Using a second spray bottle,
mix 1/2 water with 1/2 Nautical Blue Crafter's Ink as shown in
Figure B. Shake well and spray onto misted mat surface. Tilt
your mat to help ink color run and spread over your mat surface.
Do not cover your entire mat surface with Nautical Blue ink.
- Using your third spray
bottle, mix 1/2 water with 1/2 Turquoise Blue Crafter's Ink.
Shake well and spray onto misted/painted mat surface, as shown
in Figure B. Again, tilt your mat to help ink colors run
and spread over your mat surface. Let dry.
- Once your mat surface
is completely dry, remove Zia Resist by gently rubbing the mat
surface with your finger. Your linear design will now appear,
as shown in Figure D.
- Using a makeup sponge,
apply Violet Crafter's Ink to Stamp Zia's Large Zia Stem Stamp.
Stamp onto your dried mat surface. Repeat until you have a pleasing
arrangement of stems, as shown in completed stamp art example
above.
- Highlight inside of the
leaf areas using a small paintbrush to pull the inked violet
color into the open areas of the leaves.
- Apply Spectralite Nickel
paint to the surface of a blank CD with a sponge (A blank CD
is included with your clock kit).
- Select a coordinating
7 inch square piece of art paper that will cover the medallion
frame opening and will also be a backing for your clock face.
Use an X-acto knife to cut a small "X" in the exact
center of your art paper.
- Trace the medallion mat
onto the mat backing and cut away the excess backing. Mark the
center of the backing with an "X", this will allow
the clock spoke to be centered on your mat backing, as shown
in Figure E.
- The clock motor will be
centered directly behind your mat backing and art paper, using
the "X" to allow for the center clock mechanism (spoke)
to be appropriately placed. Once your piece of art paper is in
place, the spoke that will hold your clock hands should be inserted
through the "X" in your paper and your mat backing.
Place your painted CD over the clock spoke and follow the manufacturer's
instructions to finish putting your clock together. See
Figure E.
- Lightly attach your art
paper, with clock in place, to the mat backing using a glue stick.
- Using a hot glue gun,
glue mat backing to the back of your medallion mat.
- Attach clock numbers to
the surface of your art paper.
