Use watercolor crayons to apply a light base color to paper. Mist the paper and your fingers and gently rub the water color to create a watercolor background.

If your fingers are not moving freely, apply more water.

Set paper aside to allow to dry.

Stamp image with clear ink and emboss with clear embossing powder.

Apply a darker color over the paper and mist and blend the color. You may need to apply plenty of color to create a contrast to the embossed image. Apply complimentary and contrasting colors to achieve depth. Allow paper to dry.

Coat paper with several layers of sealer.

Prepare light switch plate by lightly sanding. Wipe the plate clean

Make a paper pattern by cutting a window (the size of the light switch place) in paper.

Use the window to select the area of the decorated paper you will use.

  Cover light switch plate

Cut decorated paper ½ inch or more larger than light switch plate

Using plate as a guide, cut crosshatch marks where switch will go through plate.

Apply glue to plate

Center plate over paper, using cross hatch as a guide

Miter corners and shape paper over plate

Use awl to punch out places for screws

Use masking tape to secure edges inside of plate

Coat paper with another round of several layers of sealer.

(Optional - use coordinated alcohol inks to stain screws)

Alternate directions:

Follow step 1 above. Then add more color when the paper is dry.

Color the crayon onto the rubber stamp and spritz with water. Stamp rubber onto watercolor paper. Repeat. (alternate photo

Cover plate as directed in previous instructions
