Tiny holeless beads arent just for shaker cards anymore.
Ive decorated pens, frames, card fronts, book covers, votives,
and pins, to name a few. The place to get them would be Penny
Wise Art Supplies. The owners, Suzanne and Brian Glazier, started
out by just carrying the clear Glass Glitter Micro Beads. Theyve
now expanded to 21 colors of Micro Beads - both translucent and
metallic / opaque. They also carry a strong adhesive tape (comes
in sheets as well) that is needed to cover surfaces, called O
So Sticky Tape. There is even a new product called O' So Paperback
Tape, for using with punches.
Of course, being an old
fan of red line tape, if youve got red line, you can use
that for several of the techniques. What you cannot use is a
Xyron -- the adhesive just isnt strong enough to hold the
beads in place, nor is the coverage 100 percent.
Dont know what to
do with hole-less tiny beads? Here are just a few ideas:
cover entire card fronts
with clear beads for a frosted effect - great for Christmas cards
cover parts of a design
for a watery or reflected effect
create a frame with strips
of tape and beads
edge microscope
slides
create faux stained glass
using acetate
add to last layer of hot
UTEE when creating pins or tiles
create a mosaic with shrink
plastic and use micro beads as grout
use with a thin coating
of Diamond glaze (wait until dry before removing excess beads)
- and the reason for a thin coating? - you dont want the
beads to sink into the Diamond Glaze and lose its
identity unless thats the look you want of course
use with punches! - though
I would recommend using their O' So Paperback Tape , because
of the difficulty of using most sticky sheets with punches
cover glass votives with
the tape and just add colored glass micro beads
oh, and you can use the
beads loose in shaker cards and pins ;-)

Watercolor crayons or

Blue dye based re-inker
Directions
Stamp the Koi with permanent black ink on sanded white shrink
plastic. Color with colored pencils. Shrink, then coat with Diamond
Glaze.
Stamp Moon Lady Fan twice on white matte cardstock, emboss with
gold detail powder. Color with watercolor crayons or colored
pencils. Cut out, and adhere to a piece of gold cardstock, so
that they form a circle. Trim around the gold cardstock. Place
a piece of O' So Sticky Tape over one of the Moon Lady Fans.
Trim, and then remove the tape. Place in a container with the
clear glass glitter beads. This will create the "reflected"
look.
Stamp and
color the ginkgo leaves on white cardstock, cut out.
On glossy white cardstock, create a "watery" background
using blue re-inkers, water, and plastic wrap.
Layer as shown, using coordinating cardstock.

CD
Directions:
Stamp the dragonfly with permanent black ink on sanded white
shrink plastic. Stamp the other images using Crafters Ink (blue
/ green / purple). Dry with a hair dryer, and carefully color
with colored pencils. Shrink, then coat portions with Diamond
Glaze (it is hard to see this online, but only the birds were
coated along with the wings on the dragonfly).
Color the silver side of a CD with alcohol inks (purples / blues
were used).
Cover the colored CD with O' So Sticky Tape. Place the shrink
pieces exactly where you want them. Fill in the "gaps"
with the glass glitter micro beads.
Prepare white glossy cardstock with orange, brown, and yellow
alcohol re-inkers and Krylon pen ("polished stone").
Layer as shown, using coordinating colored cardstock.
Note:
This is a modified mosaic shrink technique. The mosaic
shrink technique is slightly different. In it, you stamp a large
image onto shrink plastic. Color, and then cut the image into
several pieces. You may need to number them on the back, so you
can put them back together later. Shrink all of the pieces. Place
the O' So Sticky Tape over a piece of cardstock.
Carefully place the cut up pieces on the sticky cardstock, leaving
spaces between the pieces. When all the shrunk pieces are placed,
fill in the spaces with the micro beads.
This technique was taught in an online class, by Julie Poe, called
Shrink Plastic Mosaics with Glitterbeads. This class, and others,
can be found at the PennyWiseArt Yahoo Group.
