Magic Mesh Cards - Stamp Artist - CindyC

This is an 8½ x11" collage I did for my sister of her lake.  The Magic Mesh is placed on top of black cardstock, (representing a net of course), to show better.

The glossy picture is an actual picture of her lake stamped with Stampin Up stamps (for the most part).
The bobber is done with polyshrink and a jumbo paper punch.  Colored with markers.

The stamped nautilus was done UTEE with Powdered Pearls added.  The fish was stamped with a Kaleidacolor pad on white cardstock.

The worm is a fake bait hooked and strung with fishing line.

Water scalloped with Fiskars.

All placed on white cardstock
.
Stamps other than Stampin Up, are um's and unknown.

Stamps:
lg African rug - Jim Stephen stamps, African cube - Judi Kins
papers: black, ruby red, Dottie Ann’s Magic Mesh.

INKS: Versamark pad, bronze pigment ink, metallic powders and metallic rub ons.

Instructions:
The powders were affixed to the background black card stock
with bronze pigment ink and then fixed with a matte fixative. This technique has been described on your site. The African rug was stamped with Versamark ink onto black card stock
(which had been torn) and then brushed with the metallic powders. It was then sealed with the fixative. The African cube was stamped on the red card stock with Versamark and then
brushed with powders and fixed. The panels were then glued together and the embellishments were added. The magic mesh was rubbed with pigment ink and then brushed with the
powders.  The branch was colored with the rub ons.

I started out with green cardstock and stamped "Tiger Print" from Rubber Stampede with Versamark and embossed.  On beige cardstock I stamped the Magenta frame with green and rust pigment pads and embossed and cut out. I mounted the large green frame.  Then I used tan magic mesh behind the smaller rust frame and mounted.  Then I glued on a zebra charm with Duo glue and entwined copper wire through the mesh.  I stamped a Hero Arts "Greeting Background" with rust and "On Safari" with green and poked the wire through that and mounted it onto the card with duo, also.

Stamp Geisha on white cardstock with Black Memories; color (two shades of light green on the coat to tone down both colors) and cut out with detail scissors.  Mount on scrap piece of Kraft colored paper and cut closely to the image.  Set aside.

Cut three strips of white cardstock and four strips of bordeaux colored cardstock (one longer than the others).  With pigment inks, apply direct to paper technique to all seven strips. Ink each of the remaining stamps in one of the dye inks, and pick one strip and stamp.  Repeat same technique with the same stamps in metallic inks; making sure to not use the same stamp on the same strip.  Let dry completely.

Split two of the white strips in half, and glue to the edges of two of the shorter red strips.  Back both with scraps of light jade scrap paper trimmed to just outside the strips. Back longest red strip with another pice of this jade paper.  Trim tiny strip of red strip, turn over and glue to the center of the remaining red strip.  Mount it onto the remaining white strip and mount all onto the matte gold paper.
Fold dark green cardstock sheet in half, mount two moire printed metallic garnet postcards to the top and bottom of the front.  Mount the three jade backed strips on top, and then cross with the gold 'obi.'

Sponge Garnet dye ink on red piece of mesh to change the color to match the card, stick to the top with bit of doublestick tape.

Put mounting tape and pop dots all over the back of the Geisha, mount on card.

To make your own mesh, use wall repair tape (get it at the hardware store).  It's sticky on one side, and you can use that stickiness to attach embossing powder or glitter.  Here, I used embossing powder on the non-sticky side, then
embossed to get a full, rich color.  It makes a GREAT new and interesting background for your stamps - especially the "stitched" and/or rustic types of stamps.
