This one stamp art sample shown on this
page showcases
Doc Martins New Crafters Inks being used in three different techniques.
Technique #1 Making a Watercolor
Background with Crafters Ink
The background was created by using the crafters inks as watercolors.
Using watercolor paper, the
inks were applied with a paint brush to the wetted surface of
the watercolor block. By tilting and adding water from a spray
bottle, the crafters inks could blend and run together to create
other colors. Notice the white scribbled lines in the background?
They were created by putting Zia's resist down on the dry watercolor
block and letting it dry before misting with water and then applying
the crafters inks. The resist was removed after the crafters
inks were dry.
Technique #2 Stamping with Crafters Ink
All the stamped images were painted with the Crafters Inks and
then stamped onto cardstock, onto the mat and onto the watercolor
background paper. The inks work so well for stamping. Theses
inks will not run or bleed once stamped onto your working surface.
They dry quickly and permanently. Crafters Inks are currently
available in 2 ounce squeeze bottles, in 11 vibrant colors plus
black and white. The range of colors allows for any stamp artist
to mix their own color palate. Adding white to any of the colors
will give you a softer version of that color. Mix color on color
to create your own unique colors. The fern stamp shown on the
mat of the sample was stamped with a color created by mixing
emerald green and nautical blue. The color possibilities are
endless.
Technique #3 Painting Details with Crafters Ink
Again we mixed the emerald Green with the Nautical Blue crafters
ink and applied the crafters ink to the water lily stamp with
a make-up sponge and stamped it onto white cardstock. The flower
and open leaf areas were painted with mixed colors using a small
paintbrush. By changing the value of the ink colors (add just
a tad of black) the petals of the water lily were shaded with
the darker ink color to create the illusion of depth.
