"Dream Pouch"
Stamp Artist - Diane Moore
Winning Entry

Cut piece of 11 oz leather to 8.5 x 4.5 inch
rectangle. Round one end (this will be your flap
closure) I used a template from Evolving Images for
this rounded shape. Using Crafters Ink by Colorbox
color the leather with a light direct to paper (or
leather in this case) technique. Lightly buff the ink
into the leather with a paper towel. Using the same
ink pads and stencils from Dreamweaver, stencil
designs onto leather piece. Pay attention to
placement as the middle section of your leather will
be the back of the pouch and the design will be in a
different direction than the front pieces. (You may
want to lightly fold the piece into thirds so that you
are aware of where the back and front are). Carefully
mask the portions of the leather where you do not want
ink with the Picasso stencil from Dreamweaver. Heat
set the ink in between designs to reduce smudging of
color. Once you are happy with the stenciled
background thoroughly heat set the piece of leather.

Using Crafter's Ink from Colorbox, stamp images onto the leather. Images used are Lost Coast Design -
Lynnea Doll, Tower and one from the Flying Ladies set.   Again, carefully mask the sections of the leather
where you don't want the image. Heat set the images thoroughly.

Fold the piece of leather into thirds and lightly wet the back of the leather with a paint brush dampened with water. This will make the leather easier to fold. Fold the leather into thirds and apply weight and allow to dry.

Using a leather punch or Japanese Drill punch holes through the leather along the short sides where the pouch will be stitched together. If desired, punch holes along the rounded edge as well to facilitate beading. Punch holes approximately 1/2 inch apart and make sure that the holes on the sides line up.

Using waxed linen (or other sturdy thread of your choice) whip stitch the edges of the leather together, adding beads for interest and texture. Continue this process around the rounded edge if you choose to bead this area.

Bring together several types of fibers that coordinate with your piece and cut approximately 1 yard long.
Gather up the ends and loosely knot about 6 inches from the end. Tie this into the sides of your pouch
where you have stitched the edges closed. Loosely knot fibers every six inches or so, adding beads if
desired and then tie fibers onto other edge of pouch (make this the length you desire your pouch to hang).
Embellish ends of fibers with beads and charms if desired.

Create a small journal using directions from Cover to Cover by Shereen LaPlantz. This is the stab binding method found on page 38. Black mulberry paper and narrow burgundy ribbon were used. Stamp Tres Femmes by PostModern Design (available from
CardsNStamps vendor) with Ancient Page coal ink on a thin sheet of copper metal. A stylus was used to burnish the image on the
metal - This ink is not permanent but highlights the image. Black velvet paper was cut using a Sizzix die for the frame.
Copper polymer clay was molded using the summer floral Sculpey push mold and highlighted with gold rub-on. These images were fastened to the journal with Quick Grab adhesive.

Supplies:
Dreamweaver Stencils LM195 & LJ807
Watercolor Paper 90lb. Smooth
Dark Green Cardstock
Terra Cotta Cardstock
Folded Card Size 4½" x 5¾"
Shiva Oil Paint Sticks: Yellow Ochre 1, Barn Red 1, Naphthol Red 2, Sap Green, Iridescent Gold,

Metallic Gold Pen
Pop Dots
Wax Paper
Post It Notes
Decorative Jute Cording

"Southwest Terra Cotta"
Stamp Artist - Daylene Strickland

Instructions:
Tape large background stencil on watercolor paper. (These paint sticks dry with a coating that needs to be removed before they can be used. Simply trim off a thin layer of the end to begin using with each use.) Rub the stick on a sheet of wax paper to form a "paint palette" from which to stipple. Repeat this for all of the colors. Begin with the lightest color first and rub the brush in the color. Dot it on a paper towel to remove any loose pieces of paint. Apply to the paper. Continue adding colors in the order of barn red, then red and finish with iridescent gold. Remove the stencil and allow to dry. Trim and edge with metallic marker. Layer on dark green and terra cotta cardstock and then adhere to the card. Set aside.

On a smaller piece of watercolor paper, tape vase stencil. Apply ochre, barn red, red and gold. Remove the stencil. Place the background stencil over the vase. Pick a diamond pattern to stencil and use Post It Notes to make a mask to cover the other areas not needed. Use sap green to stencil and finish with the iridescent gold. Allow to dry and layer on green cardstock panel. Adhere to card with pop dots. Embellish with green jute cord.

I applied textured white acrylic paint to a domino.

Then using a Plaid Enterprises stencil of a Kokopelli, I pounced Folkart acrylic patina and copper paint onto the stencil and the edges of the domino.

I then adheared a magnet to the back.

"Ginkgo Tiles"
Stamp Artist - Christine Ann Peterson

Using stencils from DREAMWEAVER , TILE GRID #LJ811 and GINKGO LEAVES #LL339 dry emboss white paper with a stylus and light box and grid stencil.

Attach stencil to front, but stencil from the back. Rub wax paper over the paper first to make the stylus glid over the paper better. Remove from light box and turn card around so the stencil is attached to the front still and it is now face-up. Leave the grid stencil and attach ginkgo leaves over it.

With green dye-based ink, stencil in the leaves with a small stencil brush. Stencil brown to the edge of every square and tan to the center . Let dry. Remove ginkgo leaves and just leave grid. Sponge on VersaMark ink over all of stenciled image. Add clear embossing powder, heat set and let dry. Mount onto card stock.

"Four Corners - Valentines Card"
Stamp Artist - Yim Szeto

Supplies:

  • DreamWeaver leaf background stencil
  • Stamp: ZimPrints Pear
  • Inks: ColorBox Pigment Inks, various colors
(I used 2 different wheels - primary colors and metallic)
  • Krylon Copper Pen
  • Cardstock: black, brown, orange, forest green
  • Adhesives, foam mounting tape
  • Removable tape

"Three Pears"
Stamp Artist - Mary Garvey

Directions:
Apply pigment inks -- 2 different greens, orange, and yellow -- to the pear stamp. Set aside.

Using the removable tape, tape the stencil down on black cardstock. Apply metallic pigment inks to the stencil. You are doing 2 things - inking the stencil itself, and also creating a background that you will use on the black cardstock.

Remove the stencil carefully from the black cardstock, and place it on scrap paper. Take the pre-inked pear stamp, and press it into the pigmented stencil, and shift it slightly. Remove the stamp from the stencil, and press the stamp onto white cardstock. Try to do a 2nd stamping with the pear (sometimes the 2nd stamping can also be used).

Next, re-apply the pigment ink to the peach, and do the press-shift on another portion of the inked stencil. Stamp this image.

If need be, re-apply ink to the stencil, and create more pear images.

Trim the black stenciled cardstock, apply Krylon copper to the edges. Assemble as shown. The middle pear was "popped" off the page with the foam mounting tape.

Pin & Earrings set
Stamp Artist - Jenny Perruzzi

Directions:
Trace both stencil patterns twice onto the shrink plastic using the Sharpie marker. When dry, cut images out.
Punch a hole in one of the brushes and one of the palettes, not too close to the edge but not too far in, so they'll hang correctly from the wire earrings.

Use Fabrico Markers to color the palette and the brush.

Bake in oven as per Polyshrink directions.

When cooled, spray with Krylon Matte Finish spray sealer, if desired.

Attach a small pin backing to the back of the palette that is not punched using E6000 glue. Dry completely.
Attach earring pieces to wire earrings.

Stamp artist's saying image onto a piece of white cardstock using a Calypso Kaleidacolor Ink pad.

Punch small holes on the cardstock for the earrings and pin and attach both.

Slip into cello bag.

"Posh Hibiscus Flower"
Stamp Artist - Carolyn Summers

Supplies:

  • Light board and stylus tool
  • White and Marcos Sunset cardstock
  • Fabric that matches sunset-brick cardstock
  • Brilliance Black and copper inks
  • Clear and black Embossing powder & ginger Adirondack Pen
  • Watercolors and Dr.Ph.Martin Iridescent Accent Paints & Brush
  • Matte Fixative Spray — Adhesive tape or glue
  • Folded glossy white card

Instructions:
Stamp the Posh hibiscus flower with black Brilliance ink on the fabric and emboss with black powder. Color the image using watercolor paints. (I used watercolors that were in tubes; however, any type would work equally as well.) Add highlights using Dr.Ph.Martin Iridescent Accents. (Note: If the paints cover up any part of the image, merely reheat and the embossing will come to the forefront.) Spray with a fixative.

Place the grid stencil on a light board and secure with tape. Cover with a white card and using the stylus tool carefully outline each square of the stencil. When completed, remove the card and stencil from the light board. Replace the stencil over the raised areas of the white card to protect the grid lines and cover the entire area using Brilliance copper ink and clear embossing powder. Carefully remove the stencil and emboss. Trim the white card as shown and attach the hibiscus flower image in the center and attach to a brick card slightly larger to create a border.

On a piece of velum approximately 5x6-1/2, use the Pergamano luper to create the corner design by drawing an outline around the luper using the Adirondack ginger pen. Secure the velum to a slightly larger Sunset colored card. The Hibiscus tiled card is glued on top and the completed design is ready to glue to a glossy white folded card.
