Supplies:
Stamp Zia's large "Bamboo Sphere"
small amount of bleach
1 sheet of black card stock
several cosmetic
applicators (Q-tips)
1 sheet of heavily textured black card
Radiant Pearls in Fandango Green, stock Tiger
Eye, Bitter Apple, Deep Lapis
1 large sheet of black foam core board
black embossing powder and ink
handmade paper with Chinese calligraphy
thin black mat board print
assorted beads and charms in black and gold
tassels in adhesive (heavy duty glue or double-tape)
optional: gold tissue paper

Instructions: Begin by stamping the Bamboo Sphere medallion on black card stock and emboss with the black embossing powder. Then using a Q-tip, sparingly apply bleach to the stamp
background. By varying the pressure and stokes you'll get the variegated colors. Once the bleached area has completely dried use Radiant Pearls to paint the bamboo area of the stamped medallion. Use Fandango Green for the tall grass, Tiger Eye and Fandango Green for the bamboo stalks and
Bitter Apple and Deep Lapis for the bamboo leaves.

"Harvest Moon"
Stamp Artist - Linda Lavasani
Winning Entry
Once the paint has dried, cut out the medallion and then using the foam core board, cut a circle slightly smaller that the medallion and glue them together. (Note: you may want to use gold tissue paper to cover the edge of the foam core before gluing the pieces together. It is not necessary, but it is a nice finishing touch.) The next step is to cut a square piece of foam core (approx 7 1/2" x 71/2") and cover with the piece of heavily
textured black card stock. While the glue is drying on that piece, cut another piece of foam core board to approx 8 1/2" x 13" and cover that with the handmade paper. To assemble the project you'll take the square piece, set it at an angle and adhere it to the rectangular piece. Then the medallion piece is centered on the square and glued in placed. At this point you will need to figure out the placement of the bead work - just go with whatever pleases you. You can use straight pins or jewelry wires to attach your chosen beads to the project. Simply place a small amount of glue to the wire and press into the edge of the square piece of foam core board. Next you'll need to gently punch a hole near the bottom of the rectangular piece in order to attach the Chinese charm and tassels. The final step is to cut a piece of the thin mat board to size and glue it to the back of your project.

  • Rubber Stamps: Fred B Mullett 090-Salal Branch, Fred B Mullett 115-Lil’Salal Branch, available from StampDiva

INSTRUCTIONS:
Cut 1, 9 x 6 ¾ piece of heavy beize cs

Place a folded piece of paper towel on plate.

Spray with water. Add a few drops of bleach.

Stamp Lil’Salal Branch in damp paper towel and stamp cs all over trying not to get too wet, as it bleaches too much that way.

Blow dry with Marvy Heat Tool for a few seconds, then place under something heavy to make sure it doesn’t curl

Then stamp with Salal Branch on beize heavy cs a dozen or so images (7only needed, but good to have in case you make a mistake)

Cut a frame to protect your card while you stipple it.

I made mine 6 1/8 X 8 ¼. I put nonpermanent adhesive on it and placed it on the bleached stamped 9X6 ¾ piece of cs.

For stipple I used Marvy violet 3.

With your card and frame held as well by your hand start stippling the border that is showing around the edge. Then flip it over and do the same to the inside of the card.

I then folded the card with my bone folder. Then using the protector frame stipple the folded edge. When done, lightly blow dry and again place under something heavy so it doesn’t curl.

Cut out all the needed Bleached Salal Branch Images

Stipple Marvy violet 3

Ovals of Marcos Wisteria Purple Vellum under 3 bleached Salal Branch images put on with 2 sided tape and 1 ½ stippled violet Salal Branch images raised with thick cardboard and 2 sided tape on front of card.

Inside of card, attached with 2 sided tape, I placed an oval of Marcos Wisteria Purple Vellum, with my computer verse, printed on ash vellum tw paper with 1 bleach Salal Branch and 1 violet Salal Branch.

"Patterned Pots"
Stamp Artist - Daylene Strickland

Materials:

Posh Impressions Patterned Pot 2 Stamp (550-F18)
Posh Impressions Wild Willows Stamp (550-G05)
Brilliance Graphite Black Inkpad
Laundry Bleach (Full Strength)
UTEE: Bronze, Gold, Clear
Chipboard Panel: 2¾" Square
Black Linen Cardstock Panels: 4" x 7" and 5" x 8"
Brown Cardstock Panel: 4¼" x 7¼" and folded card size 5" x 8"
Southwest Corner Punch
VersaMark Inkpad
Decorative Bead
Decorative Fibers
Peel 'N Stick
Tweezers (helpful tool)

Instructions:
Protect your work area and wear old clothing for this technique. Also work in well ventilated area and avoid inhaling fumes for long periods of time. Pour a small amount of full strength bleach in a low top, wide area container or bowl (large enough to accommodate stamping from within it). Fold one or two paper towels into a rectangle or square shape and lay them in the bottom of the container, until the bleach is completely absorbed. Use this as a "stamp pad."

On large black cardstock panel randomly stamp willows. Test stamp image on scrap paper first for clarity. If too much bleach is present, the lines will not be clearly defined. To remedy this, add more paper towels. On smaller black panel randomly stamp pots. Allow images to dry. Wash stamps with mild soap and water immediately after using them.

Use Southwest punch for corners of brown cardstock panel. Layer willow stamped piece on brown card, followed by brown cardstock, then patterned pot stamped cardstock. Set aside.

Use VersaMark inkpad to cover chipboard square; dip in or sprinkle on bronze UTEE and melt. Repeat 2 times. While still hot sprinkle a few granules of gold UTEE (not covering the entire square) and continue melting. (Tweezers are helpful to hold the tile while melting the UTEE.) Prepare the patterned pot stamp by inking with Brilliance black ink. If the tile has cooled, ink it with VersaMark and cover with clear UTEE (If the tile is hot, apply the UTEE directly to tile). Melt the UTEE; firmly press stamp into the tile and lift remove it. Allow tile to cool completely. Adhere to card using Peel 'N Stick. Embellish with bead and fibers.

Note: Not all black cardstock bleaches the same color; some turns brown, orange, yellow, etc. It is a good idea to test a piece that you plan to work with first.

I used a red card and cut a piece of gold vellum a fourth of an inch smaller and glued that to the card. I then cut a piece of red cardstock a fourth of an inch smaller than that and took the edge of a scrap piece of paper and dipped it in the bleach and wiggled it all across the paper and made the wiqqley line that made the marbled look. Then I cut another piece of gold vellum and glued it to the center of the card. Then I cut a smaller piece of red paper and dipped the cupcake stamp in the bleach and stamped it and gleued it to the center. I made a bow from gold ribbon and glued it on. On the inside I stamped happy birthday with the bleach.
