The card was first stamped in brown using a ColorBox ink pad
on light blue cardstock and embossed with copper embossing powder
(EP). The feathers were stamped with the same ink, but I used
Embossing Tinsel Copper EP. These images were all colored with
LePlume ink pens and a Dove blender pen. The main image was cut
out and layered on dark blue card stock, trimmed with a gold
leaf pen. It was then layered on a sheet of beige cardstock,
where I punched a southwestern border design around the edges.
It was then layered over a sheet of burgundy red cardstock. The
feathers were cut out and closely trimmed (mounted with double-sided
sticky tape) and finished off with a pewter sun charm.

supplies: Stamps
used: Heirogliph-PSX-G1925, Sun and Border from Impressive Designs
set JZ-SB111, Words-unknown.
Supplies: Verdigris embossing
powder, copper embossing powder, sparkle pale yellow embossing
powder, embossing ink, brown brush marker, reinkers.
Background technique:
Use a clear sheet protector cut down one end of the long side
and along bottom so you can open the protector like a book.
Open the protector and spritz with water. Drop a few drops of
re-inkers randomly on the water, use 2-4 colors. Colors should
feather and begin to blend, if not
lightly spritz with water again.
|
Lay a sheet of white glossy
cardstock face down on the pooled ink. Close the sheet protector
and gently press or use brayer to distribute ink onto the cardstock.
Open protector and remove cardstock and set aside to dry. You
can respritz with water without reinking and print again for
a lighter, subtler effect. Wipe with windex and
cloth to clean and start again. |

The sun stamp (Southwest
Sunrays, 3420-A from
Los
Angeles Rubber Works) and an assortment
of southwest stamps (from the Ancient Art series, 9207-00 from
Stampin'Up) were stamped on cardstock using Versamark ink. A
variety of Pearl Ex powders were applied to the Versamark images.
Once the Versamark ink was covered with Pearl Ex, the cardstock
was wiped with a dry Swiffer cloth (from Procter and Gamble)
to clean the card surface. The cardstock was outlined with a
Krylon Silver Leafing pen. This cardstock was layered with 3
cardstock layers. A southwest charm was glued to the card, which
was used to fix the silver thread containing beads and charms. |

Supplies:
Silk scarf (from Dharma Trading), DynaFlow (turquoise), spray
bottle, water, Fabrico Markers, Fabrico Black ink pad & re-inker
Steps:
Launder scarf. Crumple up and put in a plastic bag, spritz with
a mixture of DynaFlow and water.
Allow to dry with wrinkles. When dry, iron to heat
set. Re-ink the Fabrico ink pad (it's best to start
with a well inked pad). Place paper over your work
surface, and spread out the ironed scarf; randomly start stamping
image. Allow to dry, and iron again to heat set. Using
Fabrico markers, color in images. The silk fabric will cause
the colors to run, so experiment and don't go all the way to
edge (unless that's the look you want). It's not necessary to
heat set the markers, but I did so anyway.

Materials:

Delight paper clay
Adirondack Cabin Fever inkpad
Dune ColorBox pigment pad

Decorative corner scissors or punch
Versamark watermark pad
Spray bottle filled with water
Xyron |

The color palate for this card is easy
with the Adirondack cabin fever rainbow pad. The batik paper,
the scrap paper, and the clay work together because they are
all colored with inks from the cabin fever pad.
To make petroglyph men:
Tear off a small piece of paper clay & roll it into a marble
size ball. Touch the marble to the cabin fever inkpad
to pick up a little bit of butterscotch & ginger ink. Roll
clay out flat. The ink will give it a marble effect. Stamp petroglyph
men (inked from cabin fever pad) into clay. Gently tear
edges of clay for a rough stone look. Set aside to dry. It may
take a full day to dry, depending on humidity. The clay may need
to be turned over periodically so it will dry flat.
To make the batik background:
Note: Protect your work surface with plastic, as this is a messy
process. Have a clean sheet of bond paper on top of the plastic,
and under your batik paper to catch the ink. This
paper will be used as one of the layers in the finished card.
Cut a piece of bond paper to the desired
size. Wad it up & then smooth it out. Stamp petroglyph background
in dune ink & emboss with clear powder. Because the paper
is wrinkled, you will get a worn, weathered impression of the
stamp. Using direct to paper (DTP) smear ink from the cabin fever
pad over the paper. Try to use the lighter colors from the pad
(butterscotch & ginger) for the first layer of ink. The embossed
image will act as a resist. Spray lightly with water to run the
colors together. When dry, wad the paper up again & pass
it thru running water in the sink. Wear gloves if you don't want
to get ink on your hands. Gently unfold & smooth out over
the paper on the workspace. Using DTP, add the darker inks (raisin
& pesto) from the cabin fever pad. Using two layers of ink
gives the batik paper more dimension. Squirt with water again
& let the inks run together.
When dry, determine which side of the
paper looks best. Sometimes the back side turns out
better than the front. Carefully run the batik paper thru the
xyron. The paper will be very weak from all the crunching, smoothing,
& water. Gently remove the backing & adhere to scrap
paper. This will make the batik paper strong enough to work with.
Completing the card:
Trim batik paper to fit top folded cinnamon card. Cut corners
with decorative scissors. Stamp Petroglyph background with versamark
on cinnamon panel. Trim paper that was used to cover work surface
to catch the ink & cut corners with decorative scissors.
Assemble layers as shown with petroglyph men centered on top.
