"Pets" Themed Stamp Art

Return To Themed Rubber Stamp Art Main Page

Congratulations to Pam Fraser for her winning entry "Pets Rule"

"Pets Rule"
Stamp Artist - Pam Fraser

Supplies:
Stamps (See stamp credits below)
Clear Transparency/acetate sheet
Tan cardstock
Black cardstock
Dark Brown cardstock - folded into a card
Glue stick
Restickable glue stick
Double stick tape
Cardboard Tile Letters
Watercolor pencils
Dove Blender
Stipple Brush
Ancient Page Sandalwood dye ink
Brillance Coffee Bean pigment ink
Brillance Graphite Black pigment ink
Black Sharpie - fine line

Steps:
1) To make this card you will be using a masking technique and a variation on the grid technique.

2) Draw or copy puzzle pieces onto clear transparency sheet. I Xeroxed mine. Coat one side with restickable      glue and when dry, cut the pieces apart.

3) On tan cardstock, assemble the puzzle pieces. Remove one section at a time and stamp each pet scene in black ink. Be sure to go around each puzzle piece with black Sharpie to form edges. Also, before moving to next section, stipple light brown (Sandalwood) on all edges and dark brown (Coffee Bean) along two sides only. NOTE: I used the dark brown on the top and left sides each time. Also, be sure to cover each finished section with its puzzle piece so that it stays masked as you stamp the next section.

4) Color each scene with watercolor pencils, blending colors with a Dove Blender.

5) Cut out completed puzzle and mount onto black cardstock. Then mount both of these onto tan cardstock. I
used a glue stick for each of these mountings.

6) Finally, mount all of these layers onto the front of the dark brown card with double stick tape.

7) On rectangles of the black cardstock, glue the cardboard letters tiles. One for PETS and one for RULE. Mount on card front with double stick tape.

8) Stamp paw prints along the right bottom inside panel of the card.

NOTE: I got my inspiration and guide for the puzzle piece shapes from "Kurki." You can see her gorgeous card at http://www.stampartgallery.com/y/ForumID20/8.html
