After sanding a piece of clear shrink plastic - I stamped the bamboo circle onto it in black Brilliance.

After this dried I colored it in with colored pencils. I shrunk the image using a heat gun. I put clear Versamark ink on the front of the image and added holographic glitter and clear emboss powder (pre-mixed). I heated this until melted.

On the back of the shrunk piece – I used the gold leaf pen and filled in the back side. The shrunk piece got a small hole in it when being heated which I covered with two dragonfly charms glued together (except the wings which I bent up on the top charm).

I embossed the kimono in gold on
Marco’s black “Kryogen” cardstock. I colored it in with gel markers and/or pens and cut it out. I stamped the grasshopper in black on a scrap of paper, colored it in with colored pencils and cut it out.

Oriental Collage
Stamp Artist - Julie Gerbitz-Goldsworthy
I created the tassel from color coordinating fibers and added a couple color coordinating beads here and there. To finish the piece – I adhered the kimono to the oriental print paper, added the shrunk image, a piece of bamboo, and the grasshopper. I deckled cut (Fiskars) the oriental paper and adhered it to a piece of Laid black cardstock. I layered this to an ivory cover stock card and add the tassel. (All papers and shrink art mounted using the Hi-Tack adhesive from a Xyron 850 machine.)

"Kimono Dreams"
Stamp Artist - Kate Mahoney

1. First cut the kimono. Cut a piece of cardstock 20 x 21 cm. Score 7 cm from each edge (so in thirds). Flip over and score 3.5 cm from each edge (so you should have just divided the two flaps in half. Fold along all the scores.  You should be starting to see the kimono take shape.

2. Cut the shoulders. Measure 2 cm across & down from each corner & cut between the the two marks. (I did this closed, so they'd all line up.) Then open & cut again for the neckline. (I just eyeballed this.)

3. Cut the sleeves. Cut a piece of card stock 16 x 17 cm. Score & fold in half so you have a piece 8 x 17 cm. Cut the notches. I cut them 4-5 cm in from the edge and made them about 3 cm tall.

4. Stamp designs on. I used Ultimate Metal platinum & I embossed the images with clear embossing powder. I used the same image on either interior flap, lining them up so the designs would match in the front when it was folded closed. I stamped fronts and backs so the it would look nice from all sides when standing up. Remember the center back top of the kimono comes from the sleeve piece. I left the inside center panel blank.

5. Color in designs. I used Pearl Ex mixed with gum arabic. The plum blossoms are interference red & micropeal. The branches are super bronze. The border designs uses duo blue-green, duo green-yellow, & interference violet. The circular medallion uses interference blue & red russet as well.

6. Attach pieces. I used double stick tape along the cut edges of the sleeves to hold them shut and to attach the sleeve piece to the kimono body.

7. Line the inside. Cut a piece of white or nearly white paper to fit the inside center panel. I cut a "V" notch out the the top that was slightly smaller than the V of the neckline, to represent the white collar of the tradiaitonal undergarments. I attached the paper to the cardstock with my Xyron.

8. If desired stamp, something inside. I used another Asian stamp inside, but a haiku of some Japanese writing could be just as nice. I stamped the image with perfect medium and painted blue Pearl Ex over it.

9. Add the obi. Cut some pretty ribbon that goes with your card and tie it around the waist to represent the obi.

I used 2 pieces of blue star dream cards stock for the kimono. The rubber stamps are from Blockheads (CT-1601, CT-1001, and CT-603) and from
Enchanted Inks (FS026).
